Thank you for sharing about your father. I met him the Summer of '78 after my sophomore year of high school concluded at El Cerrito High, and I was six months in as a student at UC Berkeley's Upward Bound Program when he and Keith Hori came in to run it that summer. 

I vividly recall that he cut us absolutely no slack regarding our progress in school or on the basketball court and for him and his time as my counselor/mentor I am forever grateful. 

He and your mother crossed my mind today, so I looked them up and found that she has passed too. My sincerest condolences to your family as both were educational giants to many of us in the Upward Bound Program......on both sides of the Bay.
