David's obituary

David Kenneth Hassett had the Rank of PFC E3, age 71, passed away peacefully In the Veteran’s Hospital. His family could not be there because he had the COVID-19 virus on December 27, 2020. David Kenneth Hassett was a decorated veteran who served in the Army stationed at Fort Devins Mass. He spent 4 years in the Army . He enjoyed serving his country. He received injuries and was Honorably Discharged in 1971. He received four Metals for Expert Markmanship.

David Kenneth Hassett was born on October 15, 1949 in Healsburg, California to Douglas M. Hassett and June W. Hassett . When David was nineteen years old when he decided he wanted to join the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Devins MA . David would go on to serve in the at Fort Devins until his accident which made him disable. . 

After serving in Fort Devins, David spent time in Fort Devins, MA. During his time in Fort Devin MA, he met and fell in love with Diane Claremont who he married Diane in January 1, 1971. . David was honorably discharged and moved to Salinas, California for two years and then moved to Pepperell MA. David and Diane had three children Melissa Hassett Joudrey born in Salinas, California, David Kenneth Hassett, born in Nashua NH, and Steven Michael Hassett born in Pepperel MA.

After moving to Salinas David worked several different places including Salinas California, Pepperell MA, Portland Maine, and finally to Fayetteville North Carolina where he passed away.

When David was not working he really enjoyed trains and he had several trains with tracks. He loved setting them up and he had a special room for his trains. That was his favorite hobby.  

David was predeceased by his son Steven Michael Hassett, his father Douglas M. Hassett, his mother June W. Parker, his sister Cynthia Ruth Camacho, and his brother Byron Westly Hassett . David is survived by his ex-wife Diane, his son David Kenneth Hassett Jr, of Fayetteville North Carolina, grandson Steven Hassett, daughter Melissa Joudrey of Mexico Maine, Michael Hassett of Little Rock Arkansas, Virginia Surrena of Little. Rock Arkansas , and Barbara Kyser of Texas who are still alive.

The family requests that instead of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society. . There will be no funeral service held at this time. There will be a military burial at the time of burial which has not been scheduled.
