David's obituary
David Nolan Frank, 44, of Columbia MD, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, surrounded by family and close friends. Dave was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Frank and his children Dean and Evelyn.
Dave and Andrea were young climbing buddies that fell in love and married in an unforgettable wedding in New Orleans. When David met Andrea, amazingly, he found a woman who was willing to go out in hip deep snow and go hiking to climb frozen water falls with him.
Dave’s excitement for life was never greater than when his children arrived. They always brought a broad smile and bright eyes to Dave’s face. Dave shared his love of outdoor recreation on with his children in hiking, camping, and climbing.
Dave is the oldest son of Laurence (Biddy) and Janice Frank and brother to Brian Frank and Daniel Frank. Dave’s parents are most proud that Dave and his brothers have always been close friends. This closeness has been passed on to his children and their friendship with their cousins.
Dave has a wide circle of close friends. Those friendships have endured from elementary school through high school. Dave’s circle of friends grew with his children and his career. Those relationships did not fade with time, but persisted because Dave was generous with his love for those who touched his life.
Dave was also a professional. He was an exceptionally talented Software Engineer who started coding game software and hosting servers in his parent’s home while in high school. He developed software for Aerospace applications before he could legally buy beer. He never stopped learning and mentoring others that worked with him. He will be missed by his colleagues at Northrup and Peraton.
Dave was a truly rare individual who touched so many lives. The world needs more Daves.
Evelyn, Dave’s daughter, is alive today because another grieving family gifted the heart of a loved one to Evelyn this summer. Dave and his family will be eternally grateful. Dave’s organ and tissue donations have already saved at least one life. The Frank family would encourage everyone to become an Organ Donor and be sure that your loved ones know that those wishes are important to you. Donations in Dave’s name to Infinite Legacy would be wonderful way to honor Dave.
Dave’s unexpected passing is very difficult for his family. In the near term, the family is planning a small private remembrance.
In addition the family plans to have a Celebration of Dave’s Life for everyone who wishes to share their feelings as well as celebrate the joy Dave gave us. This note will be updated when we have our plan.
Dave will be missed by all.
