David's obituary

David Clarence Fickett, Jr. at the age of 53, on April 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, gained his Angel Wings. David was a kind and loving person who always wanted to help others and did so much to make sure others had fun!! On September 30, 2019, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain. He never skipped a beat to make sure things were all set if he was taken as soon as they predicted. He had become a foster dad to his little buddy, Jacob, and even after his diagnosis he continued to go for Guardianship to make sure Jacob was taken care of by people who loved him. David decided to fight cancer and fought the fight for 5.5 long years!! He fought strong the whole time. During the fight he did what he could to make great memories with family; even when he was exhausted from the treatment. His family is grateful for all the time they had with him including being able to attend his nephews’ weddings. He leaves behind his mom, Denise Fickett, sister and brother in law, Yvonne and Tim Meservey, his nephews and nieces Ben and Krystal Meservey and Caleb and Emily Meservey, his little boy Jacob Fickett, his kitties, Walter and Flower, stepmother, Nancy Fickett, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends!! He will be missed so much, but he has been reunited with family that have passed before him. He was predeceased by his father, David Clarence Fickett, Sr., Uncle Pop, Roger Fickett, both paternal grandparents, Ernest and Julia Fickett, fraternal grandparents, Phil and Beryl Melanson, as well as several aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.  Thank you to the CMMC ICU staff, Palliative Care , and Andwell Health Services staff for not only caring for David, but for caring for the family as well.  Thank you also to family and friends who helped David during his fight; it was greatly appreciated!!
