David Eugene Atkinson 68, at home, surrounded by family and friends, passed on 23 March 2025 after a long battle with prostate cancer.

Dave was born 9 October, 1956, to Harry and Rosemary Atkinson in Philadelphia, PA. One of 6 amazing and strong willed children. As the eldest son, Dave learned to protect and stand with his siblings whenever they needed him.

In the many chapters of Dave’s life, he carried his passion to fight for the rights of people in his life: family, friends, coworkers. Everyone deserved equality, fairness and justice in Dave’s world. Even if talking to power might harm him personally. Dave’s accomplishments in his Union are many, resulting in his Union continuing to represent over 45,000 people.

The things I remember most are Dave’s gentleness, his laughter, how well he listened and his ability to bring people together but most of all, his love and caring for his family: Daughter Melissa, Granddaughter Octavia, Sisters, Ceal, Pat, Rose, Brothers, Dan and Harry. Also for me, Tracey and sons, Ian and Cameron.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Elverson, Pennsylvania, on 12 July 2025, 2-5PM. If you are able to attend, please email me and I can give you additional details.
