I have known that David was a thoughtful and compassionate, as I being his last remaining Uncle.  The way that David cared for his mother (my sister) during her last few years on this earth.  Each time I would call or visit Rockford to see Sylvia I would see his compassion and caring that he showed for her.   I also would like to say that his aunt Alice and cousin's , Sara. Dar. Becky Nathan and Andrew would say the same about David.
David was my roomie as a freshman at Lawrence, subsequent brother in the frat house, and friend for over half a century.  Dave was a great, enthusiastic, generous brother. Always maintaining a kind, gentle, welcoming demeanor it was a pleasure to be with him.  Dave was with several of us in Wisconsin the week prior to his passing.  He golfed, sank putts, laughed, told stories, and enjoyed the company of men with whom he shared love and respect. We miss him.
Rest well friend! We worked together for quite a few years in three different restaurants together. I loved your wacky sense of humor and you will be deeply missed.

I would like offer my deepest condolences to the Etnyre family on this tragic loss. Dave was a kind, gentle man who was always supportive of me. As a student manager, he helped me become a better manger as well as being a place where I could always get a laugh or words of encouragement. He was a great friend and and even better person. He will be missed.
Dave, you were the BEST Big Brother a girl could ever have!  You were kind, supportive, so fiercely protective!  And still able to make me laugh at myself when I completely lost all common sense as a kid (and sometimes as an adult!)  You left us without warning.  I am SO sorry we didn't get a chance to say goodbye.  You know I loved and respected you.  You were a rare man that valued relationships over riches, passion over possession and history over all:)   All that knew you - knew kindness and compassion.  I will miss you every day.   And as I pick up the phone to share another "Can't believe what I just DID!" moment with you - I'll have to remember to use your heavenly area code for now.  Until we meet again big brother, know I will treasure you always:)   Much love,  Cath
