David's obituary
(aka "Diamond Dave" and "Chi-Town")
David was born on 09/26/1968 in the windy city of Chicago, a city he deeply loved until God called him home. Even though he made Texas his home with his wife, he never forgot where he came from, and he left behind many, many tokens of his love of his home town in the form of hats, t-shirts, and basically any and everything he could get his hands on with the city skyline on it or city name.
David was a strong 6 feet handsome man, a gentle giant,. He was a very tenderhearted and caring soul under a tough masculine exterior who truly enjoyed helping and giving back whenever he could. Many times he took clothes and shoes out of his closet and handed them out to people he got to know in the neighborhood that he knew had no home. His favorite saying was "I'm thankful, and I'm blessed" to have family and a good home, whenever he would think back on what he had experienced in life growing up on the south side of Chicago.
David had a huge, magnetic personality and his presence filled up any room as soon as he entered it. He was very witty, and hysterically funny with all sorts of off the cuff statements and jokes.
On weekends after a long work week, David loved to be home with a good game (he loved all sports, but basketball was his favorite)a cold beer, and a great home cooked meal to top it off. If he wasn't watching a game, he loved watching Bernie Mac stand up on youtube, or listening to some good music, like his all time favorite R. Kelly.
He is, and will always be deeply missed.
David was preceded in death by his mother and father Josephine and Walter, and also one brother.
David is survived by his wife Janene, stepchildren Sasha, Delvon, and Shanice. and will be forever "Paw Paw" to his granddaughter Saniyah.
He also leaves behind a very large extended family including his sister Vicki, and two brothers Anthony and Dana. He also has many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins in Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
David was laid to rest in a private burial.
In his final act of giving, David was able to give the gift of life to 5 people because he was a registered organ donor. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts to the family, please send donations in his name to the following:
