David's obituary

David W. Daihl, 93, of Livonia, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Salida, Colorado. David was preceded in death by his parents David and Annie, his sister Esther Yost, and grandson William Moore. Surviving is his wife Shirley (Majeske) Daihl of Livonia, MI, daughters Lynn Carty and husband Mike of Williston, SC, and Janet Azzopardi and husband Chuck of Salida, CO, son Robert Daihl and wife René of Farmington Hills, MI, brother Edward Daihl of Harrisburg, PA, grandchildren Nicole, Kevin and wife Julia, great-grandchildren Michael, Alexandria, Brandon, and Rivers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was in the Navy and served on a merchant marine ship during World War II. The ship delivered supplies to many ports of call , including France, the Philippines, and Pearl Harbor.
Once out of the Navy, David, moved to Oklahoma, and then back to Pennsylvania. He then moved to Detroit where he met the love of his life Shirley. They were married on June 30th, 1956.
David retired from Ford Motor Company in 1990.
David loved to spend time with his family, fishing as much as possible, watching the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, growing violets, bowling, and vacationing throughout the United States.
