David was an incredibly warm, compassionate and loving person. We had many great talks while the kids played after school... about parenting, politics, our upbringing, and life in general. And later about his cancer. He had such a passion for life and for making his kids have the best experiences possible, whether is was encouraging their musical talents, or going on gem hunting adventures. His dedication to them was incredibly admirable, and I strive to be as good a parent as him. I will miss him deeply, and I want you guys to know that we are here for you, any way you need us.
Jenny, I met David when I came to San Francisco for my cousin's wedding, and returned for your wedding in 2007. I knew you had found your soulmate then, and I am devastated that your time together has been cut short. My love to you and your children. I will be holding you in the light. Love, Lizzie
I met David only a few times on line through NorCal CarciNET and was moved by his beautiful spirit and
courageous sharing of his journey. My condolences to
David’s family for their great loss.

Dear Jenny,
I am so sorry to hear that. I will call soon but also wanted to send condolences on the sad news in the very inadequate form of this message.

RIP David, a lovely and open-minded and open-hearted man. I just hope his last few days were pain-free as possible. It sounds like no person could have done more to fight than him. And that no one could’ve done more to help them than you did…

I also hope this finds you and the kids as well as can humanely be possible during these dark days. You are all in my thoughts from London. Take good care my brave friend.

With love and a very large, very strong hug to you all,

Chen

My heart is with you Jenny, Sierra and Kai. David's warmth, his light, his music, heart, humor, sprawling intelligence and gentle spirit were remarkable. I am so lucky to have known him, to have come to know him more in these last years, to have heard him sing and play with his band, with his friends and especially with his daughter. His love for all of you flowed so strongly, may you bathe in it always. Love, Kimberley
David was such a lovely soul. We met because Jenny and I became friends in our prenatal yoga class at the Berkeley Y, and formed our mom's group from that class. His love for his family, for Jenny, Sierra and Kai was so extraordinary. David was a parent that never took the time with his kids for granted. He was the dad who would go the extra distance, creating loving slideshows from birthday parties. He wanted so much to be there for his kids. During his illness, he demonstrated a nobleness of spirit and such a desire to meet his challenges unflinchingly. I admired his willingness to dive down into the hard places and come back with new insight. I can see his wry smile even as I write this. I loved David very dearly, and I am so sorry for his loss. May his spirit, and his music, live on in his children.

David was a true friend, a great father of his two kids and sure he was a good husband too, so gifted with amazing healing hands ( he actually healed my hand and elbow with acupuncture) -I am extremely shock and sad, but I know that there is a God almighty above us and David I am sure he is resting and awarded with peace, Ángels has gained another musician in heaven’s chorus. Rest In Peace mi amigo.

Jenny, I'm sending my love to you and Sierra and Kai. I'm so lucky that we got to be friends ❤️
David and Jenny and the kids came to visit us in Lake Oswego one summer and it was a beautiful day at the swim park. A couple weeks later, we hosted another family of old friends who were visiting (Tom and Ana) and it turned out that Tom and David knew each other from school on the East Coast. A happy coincidence. Good people find each other, just as Jenny and David found each other - two brilliant, creative, humanitarian, heart-centered souls.

Our deepest condolences, sweet friends. We are sending our love and support. All families should know the love you all have for one another. — Molly and John
