David Alandrew McGehee
August 28, 1952 ~ February 5, 2025
Our beloved David passed away early on the morning of February 5, 2025, where he resided in Las Vegas, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration.
He is survived by his twin brother Stewart, his sister-in-law Kerry, his daughter Kaila (Tyler) White and his four grandchildren - Victoria, Creighton, Callen and Vivian, who will forever cherish the memories of his guidance and devotion. He also had two nephews, Brad (Angelle) and Brian (Molly) McGehee, who will continue to draw strength from his exemplary life.
David retired from the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory in 2002, where he rose through the ranks as a computer network administrator, making a profound impact with his exceptional computer skills and unwavering dedication.
David's passion for drawing and appreciation of artwork, especially black and white drawings, reflected his creative and artistic side. He always loved music and when he was young, he had a dream to learn to play the guitar, a testament to his adventurous and enthusiastic spirit. David loved to travel and visited Paris twice, broadening his horizons and gaining new perspectives. He also loved fine dining and constantly offered his travel and dining recommendations to his family and friends, spreading joy and sharing his love for life.
David moved to Omaha in 2005 after his parents passed away, so he could be close to his daughter, demonstrating his selfless love and commitment to his family. He later moved to Las Vegas for better weather, where he could bask in the warmth and beauty of the city. When asked why Las Vegas, he said he was familiar with Vegas since he spent a lot of time there for the Lab attending conferences and training, a decision that reflected his practical and wise nature.
A private remembrance will be held for family at a later date, a celebration of his life and a tribute to his enduring legacy. Please post your thoughts about the time you spent and shared with Dave, and let his memory be a blessing and an inspiration to us all.
