My condolences to David's family. I first met David when we  lived in Mammoth, and reconnected when I moved th the Tahoe area. I often think of him and remember him.
I miss my son so much.  I think about him as the time.
David is my cousin.  He and I became very close in the last years of his life despite having only seen each other a few times due to distance.  He could always find the silver lining in things, even when something bad happened.  That was his nature.  He saw it as a learning moment, something to be grateful for because he was such a positive person.  When I was down, he would make me laugh.  When I was happy, he would bring me more joy.  He had so much energy, positivity, and a zest for really living each day to the fullest rather than just going through the motions like most do.  He stood out amongst people with his big smile, bubbly nature, and unique laugh.  I really miss that laugh.  He surrounded himself with good people, and was such a joy to be around.  I always looked forward to hearing from him, and I miss him every day.

I first met David in a kickboxing class. One of the first friendly people that I met in Tahoe. I'd run into him everywhere. He had asked me to help him find his first home. We searched and searched. I remember the day we visited Arrowhead. Cheena kept sneaking in behind us to view homes. That day, Cheena had snuck out of truck and into the home, then piddled on the floor. David and I scrambled for cleaning supplies. As we bent down to clean up, Cheena just stared at us wagging her tail in delight. David looked at me and as I recall, said, "This is it. This is home. Cheena likes it. It's a sign." He made an offer and the home was his. I recall all the things he pointed to that he wanted to upgrade in the home. Such wonderful ideas. He loved it; Cheena and Oreo did as well. I've never met someone with such a zest for life. Adventurous, a big heart, positive, and always greeted people with a smile. I am very saddened by this but know that he certainly never took one day for granted. I think it can be lesson that many of us can take from his example. My condolences to his loved ones.
I remember meeting David at the men's leadership November 2018. He was down to earth and very positive. The last day of the men's leadership David offer me some words of encouragement telling me to never give up on my dreams. I am deeply saddened and shocked from this tragic news. My heart goes out to the Schmidt family and his friends. Rest in peace david.

As we were coming back from our MLS course, we went to have food at a restaurant which had a patio. Not one to miss out on a chance to eat great food, Dave was part of the fun, and definitely part of the eating. We ate to our heart’s content and when it was time to go back to the airport we shared an Uber ride for which he paid. Later on I payed him back and remember thinking that it’s amazing how he can trust people. Always a gentleman with a great sense of humour. A lover of the outdoors and nature.
May you Rest In Peace Brother, and may the fire of your memory forever burn in the hears and minds of those who knew you and loved you.
Much love.

Man I’m going to miss you friend 💙🙏🏻🙌🏻

Dave Schmidt, there was certainly no one like him. He walked his own path for sure and always held his head high lifting others around him along the way.
From the moment I met Dave I felt like I had made a new best friend. I could talk with him for hours and spent several late nights diving in. Man did he have stories. I was always floored by what he knew and the life experience he had in his young age.

It’s no surprise he went out saving his dog/dogs. He was well versed in rescue techniques and has so much experience. I would trust my life with Dave anytime because of his background but still even the best of the best can slip away.
A true giver....He would take the shirt off his back without hesitation if someone was in need.

Dave LOVED his community and he has friends and community all around the globe. I’m grateful I could be apart of one of his family of friends. The community at Nu Skin will miss him deeply. He touched all of our lives and I have to say, especially mine.

I’m so fucking sad to have lost my friend but I know God has one of his best and brightest angels back home with him.
Dave... I love you friend. I’ll never forget you. I finally got your last message last night. I’m beyond sad that I didn’t get it earlier but I’m glad you got that off your chest.

Our friendship always came first, working with you was just a bonus and an honor.

My heart goes out to his family. We lost one of the best humans I’ve ever known. The world was a better place with Dave here and man am I going to miss you.

Jake and I love you. Chosen family.
