Daryl's obituary

Daryl W. Kamack was born on November 1, 1959 in Los Angeles, CA to parents Bennie Lee Kamack and Nanette Helen Tyson. He was the youngest of two siblings, Bennie Kamack Jr. and Richard Kamack (deceased). Daryl attended multiple local Inglewood elementary and middle schools. He attended his sophomore year of high school at Winston Churchill High School in Maryland where he lived with his uncle, aunt, and cousins. He ultimately graduated as a Morningside Monarch in 1977. Daryl played and excelled in many sports, focusing primarily on football. He attended San Jose State and later resumed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Phoenix studying Information Technology. In 1979, Daryl met the love of his life, Cynthia Bobo, and the rest is history. The two spent 41 wonderful years together (36 married). They were a perfect match: party animals, concert goers, avid travelers, and best friends. In March of 1995, the best gift they could ever ask for arrived in their lives, their daughter Asha (I wonder who wrote this). 3 years later, their son Dia (Daryl’s mini me) was born. He had numerous careers in the IT profession, his most recent as an IT manager for 3 arts entertainment in Beverly Hills.

He was an extremely personable, outgoing, and charismatic person. The last name Kamack is a staple in the city of Inglewood. It was almost impossible to go anywhere without people recognizing him. Daryl was a constant source of laughter to everyone he met. His adventurous spirit allotted him many opportunities including becoming a successful stand up comedian in the LA area, eventually creating You Damn Right! comedy show. He was also an avid musician. Because Daryl was naturally musically gifted, he played multiple instruments, but piano was his specialty. Back in the day, he used to play in a band at the now closed restaurant The Steakhouse on Western and Manchester. The song “Down Home Blues” being one of their hit covers. The Kamack household was constantly filled with music of all genres. From Parliament and Metallica to the Jackson 5 and Three Mo’ Tenors. Whether he was playing sports or playing video games with Wendall (aka the godfather), his competitive nature rang true. He pushed himself and his children to do their best in everything they did. This is only one of the many pieces of wisdom he bestowed upon his children that they will take with them the rest of their lives. Daryl is survived by his wife Cynthia, his daughter Asha, his son Dia, his brother Bennie, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

It’s impossible to put into words all of what made him the amazing man he was, but we’ll leave you with a few.

Daryl Kamack, the comedian, the philosopher, the bold, the husband, the father, and the friend. A man unmatched.
