Darryl's obituary
Darryl started at an early age working with wood and would go on to working on cars and received the nickname 'RUSTY'. He was an avid, self-taught mechanic who could literally listen to the sound of your car and tell you what was wrong with it. Oftentimes, fixing people's cars without asking for pay.
He also worked for many years as a self-employed journeyman. Darryl attended church in the latter years of his life and he was your all-around guy who would give you the shirt off his back.
Darryl Maurice Thomas peacefully departed this life on May 7, 2020, at his residence in Brownstown, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Thomas, his brother Marvin Jerome Plummer, I, and his nephews Aaron Johnson, Jr. and Fredrick Early, II.
He was a loving son, a father, and friend and leaves to cherish his memories - the mother of his children, Alphretta Ellis, three daughters: Jerri M. Thomas (Michael), Angelicia White (Vencent), Brianna Summerville (who wishes she had had more time with her dad); one son: Christopher D. Ellis; three granddaughters: Micahya A. Thomas, Ahmira Ellis, and August White; four grandsons: Michael Borner, Jr., Mikáel Borner, Christopher D. Ellis, Jr., and Vencent White, Jr.; three sisters: Sonya P. Myricks (Clarence), Renatta C. Plummer, and Michelle A. Thomas; one brother: Aaron Johnson, Sr.; one niece: Brittany Early; four nephews: Nathaniel Johnson, Marvin Jerome Plummer, II, DaShon A. Hicks (Tanisha), and DéAndre Early; two great-nieces: Maliah Hicks and Bre‘Asia Early; two great-nephews: Deonta Stenbridge, Jr. and Noah Hicks. He also leaves uncles, aunties, a host of cousins, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
A Mother's Poem
Dear Lord, you blessed me with the gift of a son. From the moment he graced my life I knew he was special and I thank you for all the days, weeks, months, and years you blessed us with his presence. Although there are no words to describe the sorrow I feel, I pray that the cherished memories of Darryl will bring a smile to my face and comfort my heart as I reflect on all the happiness he brought in my life. And even though you are no longer with us physically, you are forever in my heart.
I Love You,
Your Mama
Darryl my friend,
You never said I’m leaving,
You never say goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knows why.
Those special memories of you,
will always bring me a smile.
I wish I could have you back with us just for a little while.
Each morning when I wake,
I know that you’re gone.
No one knows the heartache,
As I try for our family to stay strong.
To lose someone I loved so much,
Brings pain to my life beyond belief.
There are no words to ease my pain, my sadness, or my grief.
My thoughts are always with you.
Your place no one can fill.
In Life, I loved you dearly.
In death, I love you still.
Alphretta
