Darren's obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Darren Lee Wagner, 66, born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Simi Valley, California. Darren passed away on March 10 in Anoka, Minnesota.

Darren’s celebration of life will be held at Living Waters Church in Elk River, Minnesota on Saturday, April 5, 2025 with visitation (no wake) at 10am. The service will start at 11am. Lunch will be served after the service.

Darren was born in Dallas, Texas to Virginia Ann (Hughlett) Wagner and Bobby Jean Wagner on September 28, 1958 and grew up in Simi Valley, California. He went to Simi Valley High School and graduated in 1977. While in California, he worked at Alpha Beta supermarkets and then Symbolics. After moving to Minnesota, he owned two Subway franchises with his wife, Susan Wagner. Most recently, Darren worked in custom medical device sales and was the National Sales Manager at The Flexan Corporation. Darren’s larger-than-life personality, humor, ability to connect with others, and storytelling were deeply appreciated by those around him. His hospitality and cooking were legendary among family and friends. He was also an avid gardener, builder, writer, winemaker, and reader, among many other hobbies. He had a deep faith that he passed on to his family, always reminding them that the most important thing was to, “Love God and love people.”

Darren is survived by his wife, Susan Wagner; his children, Holly (Mike Freire) Morrell, Landon (Danaka Toek) Wagner, Brittney (Josias) Hansen; his granddaughters, Annaka Osborn, Marais Hansen, and Evelyn Wagner; brothers Lonny (Marilyn) Wagner, Kevin (Tami) Wagner, and Greg Wagner; and many other relatives and friends who were touched by his love and generosity.

He is preceded in death by his father Bobby Jean Wagner and mother Virginia Ann (Hughlett) Wagner.
