Darren was born in Elgin il to Evelyn Mills and Dennis Karsten. He is survived by his mother Evelyn, 3 siblings, Dennis, Debbie and Danyel, 3 niece's Breanna, Rebecca and Lily , his nephews Justin and Jonathan,His great niece and nephews Zoey, Ayden and Jackson.His life partner and soulmate Sherri Head and his step children justin,Kayla and Jacob and his two grandchildren Arabella and Skylar. Several cousins, aunts and uncles from both sides and his grandma Mills. He is predeceased by his father Dennis,his grandma and grandpa Karsten and his aunt Nancy whom he was very fond of.
Darren graduated from Crystal lake south high school, had a degree in welding ,diesel mechanics and made his living as a journeyman drywall taper and painter. He grew up in lake in the hills,il and had many friends, He loved his family very much and was a very loyal man. Darren was a social butterfly and a natural born flirt.Darren loved New Orleans and we had planned to move there when the grandkids got older.He wanted to be closer to his uncle Quitman. Darren's only regret in life was always feeling like he let people down because he should've done better, but I know first hand at how hard he tried and fought for where he wanted to be. Darren's favorite music was classic rock, favorite band Led Zeppelin, favorite artist were jimmy page, Robert plant and Eric Clapton favorite movie was underworld favorite actress were late beckenseal and Halle Barry. His favorite hobby was playing guitar and reading. He had an enormous heart and would help anyone even if he was treated badly, He loved his family and was consumed with love when it came to his kids and grandkids.He was a beautiful person if you took the time to get passed his rough exterior. He will be missed by many and is now a guardian angel, rest in peace my love.
