Darrell's obituary
The family moved to Seattle in 1956 where he grew up in Ballard. He graduated from Ballard High School in 1970. Following
high school he joined the Army in 1973 and served until 1976.
In 1974, he met the love of his life and future wife, Marcy Russell. They later married on July 2nd, 1977. During
their marriage, they had 4 children. In 1979, he began an apprenticeship to become an Electrician. Upon graduation, he became a Union Journeyman Electrician for IBEW 46 until his retirement in 2009.
Darrell and Marcy were the loves of each other's lives and best friends. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed their time
together by taking weekend trips, going to the casino, and spending time with family.
Darrell will be remembered for his love of music, classic cars, fishing and crabbing with his buddies. Darrell was a avid seattle sports fan for all teams professional and college. He was quiet, caring, gentle, thoughtful, and above all, a loving husband, father and Popo. He will be deeply missed.
Darrell is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, children; Marisa (Russell), Kelsey (Aaron), Ryland, and Devin
(Hannah); mother, Shirley; sister, Bev (John) Rothermel; 3 grandchildren, Olen, Nash and Daryl; brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Father Buster Monson, Brother-in-law, Lee Russell, and Mother-in-law, Betty Russell.
A celebration of his life will be held at theBallard Elks on Sunday, June 2nd at 1 pm. Donations can be made to American Cancer Society or Children's Hospital.
