So sorry for his life ending here, but thankful he went in to the arms of Jesus.
I still use the acronym I heard from him for the Bible:
Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
see you in heaven, Darrel!

So sorry for your loss. Sending prayers for peace during this difficult time. I absolutely adored Darrel...always ready with a smile, a joke or a story. Sunday mornings will not be the same....

His grandchildren were the jewels on his crown. This is him with first born grandson, Matt King. When Matt was a little boy, he and Papa were "best friends" fishing, fixing, learning the bible, laughing, he even taught him how to drive at a VERY young age against my blessing hahaha. I am so thankful for his influence in Matt's life.

So Sorry to hear about his passing. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. I remember all the hunting and fishing trips our families shared together as well as the softball games and fish fries. He will always be a like a family member to me as well.

My Dad loved reading the story of Jesus birth to us on Christmas. He was a great spiritual leader for our family.
I used to go for walks a couple miles past Darrel’s house on the lake. I know he saw me going to go by. He came out onto his porch and got my attention he waved to me and asked me to come up and talk a spell. So I did and we talked about our younger days.
He had to show me his bird houses and his garden. We talked about the time when they drained the lake. He told me story’s about the huge catfish they caught and tried to save.
He then told me about his trucker days and about some his runs through my home state of WV.
We just shared our lives and how we lived.
Then there was the time when I was in a tough spot and he told the pastor leading the Bible Study, I know we can help Steve if we join in prayer over him. It tuned out that I got prayed for and I know the Lord heard the prayers.
I am going to miss my friend and brother in Christ.

I want the family and his wife to know I am sorry for you loss. Will be praying for your comfort and peace.
