It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Darlene Williams on March 14, 2025. Born on March 22nd 1968, Darlene leaves behind a legacy rich in family ties, warmth, and a vibrant love for life.
Darlene graduated from Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in 1985 and in 1996, she courageously moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she built a beautiful life with her loving husband Sammie Lee, and their three wonderful children.
Darlene had a colorful taste in pop culture, her favorite films included classics such as The Goonies and Fried Green Tomatoes. She found delight in a variety of TV shows, with 'A Different World' topping the list and any 'Housewives' show catching her interest. She had an eclectic taste in music, cherishing the works of Micheal Jackson, Luther Vandross, and Mariah Carey. Darlene's reading adventures often led her back to the pages of 'Lolita'.
A passionate sports fan, Darlene enthusiastically backed the Broncos and the Minnesota Lynx. Apart from these, Darlene's interests were homely and revolved around her family. Be it taking her family to Vali-hi drive-in, organizing movie nights, or cooking her favorite Mississippi Pot Roast and Sweet Potatoes for them, Darlene loved and lived for her family. She was often found savoring a Pepsi or a Miller lite or indulging in her favorite chips, pork rinds.
Her recreational activities included finding peace in nature, and visiting museums. In particular, she cherished the Walker Art Sculpture Garden, specifically the spoon and cherry. Her favorite vacation spot was Chicago, the city she hailed from.
Darlene was a charismatic, bubbly, full-of-life woman who was also smart and caring. She firmly believed in treating people with kindness, a lesson she imparted in not just words but through her actions as well. Darlene was deeply committed to the cause of human rights.
In her passing, Darlene leaves behind a legacy as a beloved mother, wife, and partner. She also leaves in mourning her Partner, 5 Children, 2 sisters, Mother, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her memory will always be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her lovingly cooked meals greatly missed. Darlene, our cherished queen, you will be greatly missed, but your love and kindness will forever live in our hearts.
