Darleen's obituary

Darleen Ann (Suchovsky) Johnson - Robinson - Crooks (married three times) was born on May 16, 1945, her father, Albert Suchovsky, was 28, and her mother, Arvilla (Huttleston), was 27. They would later end up getting a divorce. She has three children with John Johnson (Dale, Mike, and Renee), one child with Gilbert "Gil" Henry Robinson (Ricardo), and one stepchild that William Joseph (Bill) Crooks brought to their marriage (Rachael). She had two sisters. Her sister's names are Sharon (Suchovsky) Snyder and Mary (Suchovsky) Milheim.

Darleen was known for her infectious smile which could happily light up a room or let you know you were really in trouble. Darleen was a strong, stubborn, and resilient woman. She was a hard worker, fiercely independent, and uncompromising in her beliefs. She was quick-witted and often engaged others with her sarcastic humor. She enjoyed being a grandmother, playing cards, trips to the beach in Holland, Grand Haven and Traverse City. Darleen was a die-hard University of Michigan football fan and rarely missed a UofM and State face-off game. Darleen will be remembered as a woman who maintained an impenitent, obstinate, and obdurate stance on a number of topics, events, and with any person who had the fortune of knowing her.

Darleen had developed a number of health issues over her later years. She was a lifelong smoker until she survived a heart attack and severe pneumonia where she almost died. Her heart continued to deteriorate even after she quit smoking, and walking became increasingly challenging for her and she was put on oxygen. In December 2023 she fell and broke her hip, something which led to a sharp decline in her health. She was in the end stages of CHF and COPD when she died on January 10, 2024.

She is survived by her husband and best friend William "Bill" Crooks, son Ricardo (Caren) Robinson and their children Mary-Elizabeth (Alfonso and 2 children), Kane (and 1 child), Isabella "Alstor", Benjamin, and Austin Robinson; a son Dale Jonson and his children Lisa ( her 4 children) and Johnny; a son Mike (ex Sue) Johnson (his 4 children); stepdaughter Rachael (Rick) Taylor and her 3 kids, and several other relatives.

There was not a funeral service as cremation was elected by the family instead.
