Darla's obituary

Darla Mae Nelson went home to Jesus on April 8th, 2022 at age 60 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Darla was born to Milton and Eleanor Aronson on December 2nd, 1961 in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Darla met her husband, Kevin in 1983 when he was riding his motorcycle through the downtown area. They married in 1984 and went on to raise two children, Cathy and Krystal. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, she spent most of her life caring for others working as a nurses aide and a home health caregiver. She loved horses, dogs, crocheting, sewing, flowers, and her family. Darla was a devoted member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a Blue Star Mother. Throughout her life she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Darla joins her parents, Milton and Eleanor; nephew, Jeff; and many dear friends in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Nelson, Grantsburg, WI; children, Cathy (Duane) Truehart, Frederic, WI; Krystal (Tom) Stephenson, Fort Mitchell, AL; Mike (Jody) Larson, Danbury, WI; 11 beautiful grandchildren; her brother, Randy (Debbie) Aronson; three sisters, Brenda Aronson; Debbie (Vern) Hess; Lori Aronson; nieces, nephews, and a large church family. Darla was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Grantsburg and during her final months she received tremendous support from her church family, and from the wonderful staff at Saint Croix Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 12th at New Hope Lutheran Church, 685 WI-70, Grantsburg, WI 54840. Visitation will take place at 11:00 with a short service being held at 11:45. Lunch will be served following the service.
