Danny's obituary
Danny King Boardwine age 59 died as a result of advanced liver cancer early October 14, 2022 at home where he was attended by his wife, Cheryl Boardwine and their adult daughter Paisley Boardwine. Cheryl Boardwine wishes to especially thank sister-in-law Ashlan Frye as well. Your tireless and compassionate help was invaluable. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of MSA Hospice.
Danny was born January 19, 1963 to Harrison "Charlie" Boardwine and Patsy Mae Boardwine. Danny was raised primarily in Russell County, Virginia along side his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. The family moved to Saltville, Va in the mid 80s. Around that time, Danny began to work for Howell Construction.
In late November 1988, Cheryl Crisp was visiting her grandparents for the Thanksgiving holiday. On Friday after Thanksgiving , Danny and Cheryl met for the first time . On August 4, 1989 they were joined in marriage. Almost a year later on July 25, 1990 their family was made complete upon the birth of Paisley Marie Boardwine. Cheryl and Danny were married 33 years in August of 2022. Paisley was a daddy's girl and the apple of his eye.
Danny sought care in late August at JMH ER for a back pain. A spot was discovered on his liver that night and a whirlwind of tests, procedures and consultations ensued. But, in the end, there was nothing that could be done. Danny, having rededicated his life to the Lord earlier that year, resigned himself to it being the Lord's will that he come home. He took the time he had to tell many about the blessings God had bestowed him and to express his love and concern for those he was leaving behind.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Harrison "Charlie" Boardwine and two brothers, Jeffery "Bear" Boardwine and Charles Boardwine.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Mae Boardwine. His wife, Cheryl and their daughter, Paisley. One brother, Randy Boardwine and three sisters, Dianna Williams, Brenda Boardwine and Desiree Barrett. As well as, many nieces, nephews, family by marriage and friends.
Danny wished to have a casual memorial service where family and friends could honor him by sharing a meal during which all are encouraged to share a good memory of Danny or a funny one, share a piece of music or sing a song.
We are in the process of planning and organizing this event and will keep you all updated .
