I worked with Dan for about 5 years at ProExhibits. When I first met him, I immediately noticed how he was very kind and lighthearted. I later started calling him “Friendly Dan” and “Adorable Dan” because he got along well with everybody and was always in a cheerful mood. He was a diligent worker and consistently cared about helping others. He made work fun with his playful and competitive spirit. I remember us laughing, playing silly little games he created to test our accuracy skills, like seeing how far across the room we could throw a ball of paper trash into a garbage can or how far we could slide a bean bag to the edge of a table without it falling off. He always made a game out of everything.

Dan and I talked a lot about our shared common interests in music, movies, art, and design. I used to dabble in making instrumental music, and I was always excited to share it with Dan because no matter how busy he was at work, he would always take the time to listen, give me great feedback, and encouragement. I also enjoyed hearing his stories about his days playing in a band. It was funny catching him at work displaying his habit of randomly tapping on tables as if he were playing the drums, or humming random tunes to himself.

Aside from all the jokes and random things we’d talk about at work, we also bonded over our shared faith in Jesus Christ. We had deep talks about life, human behavior, money, sin, death, Jesus, eternal life, Heaven, and God. Whenever I faced struggles and challenges in life, Dan would listen and always encourage me through Bible verses and stories from the Bible. I truly believe God used Dan as a spiritual mentor to speak truth to me, which helped me grow in my faith and deepen my understanding of who God really is.

I can go on and on talking about Dan, but I will end with this. Dan was a cool Renaissance man who was adventurous, athletic, humble, kind, and funny. He loved his family so much, cared about others, and faithfully loved God. He will be greatly missed, and I thank God for blessing me with the fun times working with him and having him as a good friend.
