Daniel's obituary

Daniel Hiroki Watanabe was a gentle and caring son, brother, and friend who went to heaven on January 9th, 2022, at the age of 41. Daniel was born to Toshi and Rumi Watanabe on January 6th, 1981 in the City of Angels (Los Angeles, CA).

Daniel was an advocate for gay rights and regularly participated and donated to various gay rights and awareness organizations. Daniel was a GIA certified gemologist passionate about working with jewelry, gemstones, and anything he considered beautiful. He regularly adorned his home with gems, flowers, and stunning artwork that would take your breath away. He was also an animal lover, with several pets including exotic fish and reptiles, but his true love was his dog Kuri.

Daniel had the most beautiful soul, adored his family and friends, and was incredibly kind. His family will remember him as a sensitive, kind, caring, intelligent, and proud man who was tougher on himself than on anyone else.

Daniel has found peace, joining his beloved grandmother and auntie. Aside from his loving parents, he is survived by his father, mother, and older brother, as well his nephew, niece, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time.In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the organizations Daniel passionately supported.

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

by Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,

I am the softly falling snow.

I am the gentle showers of rain,

I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush,

I am in the graceful rush

Of beautiful birds in circling flight,

I am the starshine of the night.

I am in the flowers that bloom,

I am in a quiet room.

I am in the birds that sing,

I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there. I did not die.
