I knew Dan Smith as a colleague and am shocked and saddened at his loss and send my sincere condolences to his family. Dan was a dedicated professional who made a tremendous difference in the lives of everyone who knew him at Metropolitan Community College; particularly his college students whom he helped in their personal development. Dan was also well liked and respected by his many colleagues and had a great sense of humor that brought light and joy to those around him and had an infectious laugh that made everyone smile! Yes, the world is a much better place because Dan Smith lived among us even though it was for a period of time that was much too short.

My heart and prayers go out to Sharon and Rachael in this difficult
time. Dan as I knew him, was a caring, very smart, patient and funny guy. He had everything that most people strive for in life. A wife and daughter who loved him and I know, deep down he knew that. I know he loved his family and friends however sometimes in
life what we think we see is not how people really are. Sometimes
they struggle and are silent. May God bless and watch over your family. May Dan rest in peace and may God give his family the strength to move on and be strong.

We are speechless and heartbroken of Dan's death! Our love and compassion for family and friends! Dan was an extraordinary colleague and friend. I will never forget his kindness, willingness to help everyone, and good jokes that made us smile! I wish I knew about his internal turmoil to be able to better support him too. Something that I will not forgive myself! I did not know....We will miss him dearly, but he will not be forgotten!
