McLane Family,
I came across Daniel’s obituary and I wanted to sincerely say that I am so sorry for your loss. Daniel accomplished a lot in life but no matter how much one does in life, death always causes great pain and it leaves a a void in our hearts and In our lives. I just wanted to share a hopeful message that I hope brings you comfort. Isaiah 25:8 tells us that soon Jehovah God will swallow up death forever, And will wipe away the tears from all faces. He will also bring many back to life. John 5:28,29 says do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. Please know that Jehovah cares for you and Daniel. May these words bring you comfort and strength to endure till the day you can see Daniel again.

Dan is my good friend and mentor in the first 10 years of my career. I always think about one day, after I retire, I will sit down with him and chat about the stories in II. I remember one time Chris choked and he sprinted to him, wow, I saw how much he cared about us. I remember the night he danced and laughed in Taipei. We went to France and spoke in the conference. It is good to share the best 10 years of my life with you, Dan, and it makes who I am now. You will be greatly missed. Jai, Ian and Meera, I am so so sorry for your loss.

One of our best memories of Dan is when he visited the UK and we took him to an English pub. He regaled us with stories – blinding us with science and jokes about all the things that were impossible in the universe that were actually true.
We never laughed so much. He was the perfect match for Jaishree.
Dan was a brilliant, clever man and we were lucky to have him in our lives.

We first met Dan when we traveled to California for his marriage to our niece Jaishree. We gave him the once over and deemed him good enough for her. He was, we thought, funny, kind and generous and would treat her well. Over the years this proved to be true and he continued to rise in our estimation. We didn’t meet up often due to distance, but when we did nothing was too much trouble for him and he was helpful and entertaining. I suppose our best memories are of his visit to the UK with the family to attend our daughter’s wedding, when he helped us laugh when the stress got out of hand. We will remember him with love and affection. Rest in peace Dan you deserve it after all your hard work. Your goodness will live on in your wonderful children.

Dan’s life was short, but very impactful. At his wedding ceremony with Jayshree, he showed an upbeat potential. Over the years that upbeat attitude never stopped.
Goodbye friend.
