The family of Daniel John McHugh is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the age of 33 after a valiant battle with leukemia. Dan was born and raised in Wolcott, Connecticut, before he moved out to Alpharetta, Georgia and eventually Irvine, California to follow his career in gaming management with Blizzard Entertainment.

Dan leaves behind his parents Richard & Virginia McHugh, brother Andrew McHugh, sister Jessica McHugh, sister-in-law Michelle McHugh, girlfriend Sarah Ku, niece Aylish McHugh and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends & co-workers who loved him dearly.

Anyone who knew Dan knows him as the man who had a constant smile on his face. Dan was best at being himself and not once had the fear of being embarrassed or judged. Dan’s positive, selfless spirit was unparalleled no matter the obstacle or situation. When faced with his cancer diagnosis, Dan described it as the best thing that ever happened to him. It drove him to find what he truly loved in life.

Dan maximized & excelled on anything he put his mind and heart into. He loved working, camping, playing video games, reading, woodworking, being a mentor and most importantly - making music. As an aspiring music producer, Dan had just started music producing courses. Some of Dan’s songs, including his EP, can be found under Schmultz on Spotify or Soundcloud.

Dan was a wonderful son, brother, boyfriend and friend to all that knew him. We will miss him tremendously and will keep him in our hearts forever.
