It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Maschmeier II. Daniel, a remarkable and intricate individual, was born on July 17, 1978, and left this world on October 24, 2024. Their departure leaves a void in the lives of their loved ones, whose stories and memories will perpetuate their legacy.
Daniel is survived by their brother, Chris Maschmeier; his supportive step-parent, Barbie Maschmeier; uncles, John, Paul, and Ralph Maschmeier; aunt Ruth Maschmeier; loving step-father, Shawn Schober; and father, Dan Maschmeier. Their memories are also treasured by family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing them. Daniel was predeceased by their mother, Barb Schober; and grandmothers Pauline "Peg" Winn and Ralph Sr. and Henrietta Maschmeier (Heidemann).
A gatherer of experiences and embracer of life's small moments, Daniel was an aficionado of anime, fantasy, and science fiction films. An avid player of Dungeons & Dragons, finding joy in the realms of fantasy it allowed them to explore. His personality was nothing short of friendly and caring, while their philosophical and educated side always added depth to all their conversations.
Daniel evolved professionally as a software developer, demonstrating brilliance and devotion to the field. As a world traveler, they always reveled in the beauty of different cultures and places. Passion for tabletop gaming was not merely a hobby, but an enthusiastic pursuit that they cultivated with commitment. Their accomplishments, both personal and professional, were indeed a reflection of their well-rounded, vibrant personality.
A Celebration of Life for Daniel will be held on December 13, 2024, at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lake Ellyn Boathouse. We invite all who knew and loved Daniel to join us as we remember their life and the joy they brought into ours.
In Daniel's memory, we encourage you to embrace the qualities they championed: kindness, thoughtfulness, education, community, and a genuine love for life's many adventures.
