McCarthy, Daniel Joseph Jr.

Age 90 of Sarasota, Florida died peacefully on December 27, 2023

Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Jane (Kennedy) McCarthy, his daughter Colleen L. McCarthy, parents Daniel Sr and Loretto (Walsh) McCarthy, his parents in law George and Loretta (Couse) Kennedy, his brothers Patrick & Michael McCarthy, and sister Mary Ann Clark as well as brother George Ricciardi and sisters Joan George, Mary Kay Kennedy and Ann Powell.

He is survived by siblings Sandy

McCarthy, Don Clark, Maureen Moody, Colleen Ricciardi, Carolyn McCarthy, and Paddy and Vickie McCarthy, George and Sue Kennedy, and Jim Powell.

Also surviving are his children Kathy (Joe) Hansen, Mary Ellen McCarthy, Peggy(Dave) Brooker,

Dan(Martha) McCarthy III, Trish (Tom Rubens)McCarthy. He was Pa to his grandchildren Tim, Matt, Megan, John, Tricia, Jane, Mary Margaret, Jessie, and their spouses and Papa to his six great grandchildren. Uncle Dan, Danny and Dan were his names to his nieces, nephews , cousins and close friends.

Daniel graduated from State Teachers College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He had a long career with NCR Corp while living in Dayton, Ohio and spent 35 years in retirement with Patricia living on Siesta Key, and traveling the world. Together they enjoyed golfing, photography and welcoming family to sunny Florida.

Dan hoped all would be happy for him as he anticipated a peaceful ending to a wonderful life.

Family will gather at a future date for interment in Taneytown, Maryland. In lieu of flowers please consider making blood and platelet donations a part of your life.
