Daniel's obituary
Daniel Jose Cruz, age 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in San Antonio, TX on July 27, 2025. Born in Donna, TX , and raised in the Rio Grande Valley communities; he later moved to Illinois where he raised his family with his first wife, Soila Cruz. Later in life he lived in Pharr, TX with his wife Rachel, where they shared a quiet and meaningful chapter of life together. In his final year, he moved to San Antonio to be closer to family.
Born on April 1, 1942, Daniel was a devoted husband, father, and son; a proud grandfather and great-grandfather; a loving brother and uncle; and a man deeply committed to his family. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Soila Cruz, the mother of his children; his second wife, Rachel Cruz, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing; his daughter, Emily Edna Cruz; his parents, Felipa Rodriguez and Manuel Cruz; and his siblings, Josefina Mercado, Alicia Cruz, Arturo Cruz, and Alfredo Villarreal.
Daniel is survived by his children: Deborah Cruz- Clark, Daniel R. Cruz (Celia), Arturo Cruz (Holly), and Jeremiah Cruz; his grandchildren: Cameron Clark (Alaina), Cassidy Channell (Drew), Emily Balderas (Oscar), Allison Clark, Amber Cruz, Deborah LaVoy (Elijah), Samantha Cruz, Melody Clark, Xander Cruz, Eli Clark, and Sam Clark; and his great-grandchildren, Juniper and August Clark.
Daniel leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and quiet resilience that will live on through each generation that follows. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
