My name is Rick Kemper  It's taken 1 year to have this news reach me. I grew up with Dan. He was a great, great friend we rode dirt bikes, shared our love for muscle cars. We dbl dated a couple of times. And still had several years of greetings until he moved to St. Helen's, we didn't have cell phones to keep in touch as we do now a days. But I always wanted to meet up but with work and growing families as our own. Time wasn't on my side to do so looking at this now ! Life is to short to put off things you should do. Mike, Shirley &  Frank it's been a life time since we last seen each. Other I wish you guys the best. I'm so sorry for our loss of a great friend ,father, brother, and son. Perhaps we will meet again my friend. ❤️ you my friend.

This is the worst news ever. Such a loss. Dan was such a great friend and I learned so much from him. I met Dan when I was in high school and took a job at Don’s Rental. At first, I thought Dan might be a scary guy. He came looking all stern with his Harley, the leather jacket and gruff voice. I’m sure he could get scary, but I never saw it. He was the nicest, most patient and warmest guy ever. You could really see that in his relationship with Whitney and “Little Mac”. He just loved them. Little Mac was too small at the time, but Whitney used to come work with us. He called her his “Little Baywatch Beauty” and man, he just adored her.

We worked hard, but we had fun. I remember making Mr Trailerball Man by painting a trailer ball, using orange twine for hair and drawing on a face. We just laughed about that a few months ago. Whitney might have helped us make that, I don’t remember. We hoped that Don’s vision was poor enough that he wouldn’t be able to see it.

Whenever I came home from college, I’d go see Dan. I can still hear his voice saying “Hey Sam…” super loud although he wasn’t yelling, he could just talk loud. He always rip me about how soft I was becoming because my hands were soft from not working at Don’s. I still remember trying to find a tough guy excuse for it, I won’t say what I came up with here.

Dan helped me stay calm when we worked with this jerk named TJ in early 2000. If I ever found anyone that didn’t get along with Dan, I knew right away they were probably a chump since to me Dan was so great.

Dan was so patient and seemed to get a kick out of all the things I screwed up at Don’s. He’d come over all quiet and just ask questions calmly about the predicament I was in. Then he’d show me how to fix it all. The long leash he gave me gave me room to fail and try things. I learned so much because of that. I knew when I messed up, so he never rode me about it, he just taught me how to fix it. I’m a better father, brother, and friend for the time I spent with Dan.

When I saw “RIP Dan” up on the sign at Don’s I figured it must be some other Dan. I text Dan to ask what was going on and I never got a text back. If you have a buddy that you haven’t seen in a while, go see them, you might not get another chance.

RIP Dan.

My wife Annette and I were looking for someone to help us with the windshield wipers on our boat. Dan was recommended by another service provider we had used before.  Dan was an answer to our prayers. Not only did he do a great job of fixing our boat, he became like a trusted friend in a very short time. We have only known him since November but we are greatly saddened by his passing.  Our condolences and prayers go out to his family.  He will be missed.
Makayla, I am so very sorry. Such a shock. We are here for you and love you immensely. Prayers and hugs for you and your family.
Dan wasn't just my friend, he was like family. He was always there for me, wether it was a shoulder to cry on, an ear to hear all my complaints about life, or a hand to help me work on my cars. He never said no. He had the biggest smile and the best bear hugs when someone needed it.  I will miss him, I know a lot of people will.
