Daniel's obituary
DJ was born on November 5, 1977 to Marilyn & Danny Harrington in Salinas, CA, who also had one other son, Derek in 1980. They grew up in their family home in Prunedale which DJ always had fond memories of him and Derek running amuck the property chasing Petes, their pitbull, riding his motorcycle, shooting, or giving their mom and dad grey hair (mostly the last)!
DJ loved to ride his dirt bike and would often be seen zooming around the back hills of Prunedale or through town in Salinas (which the police made sure to tell him was not something he should do). DJ lived a full life, had many friends, and was loved by everyone he would meet.
Graduating from North Monterey County High School in 1995, he went on to Hartnell College to get his certification in welding. He also played college baseball for the Panthers while attending Hartnell College. After graduation, he landed his first job as a journeyman for Valley Fabrication, where he worked for many years.
In 2002, he met Denver Tate and they wed in 2005. Always wanting to stay close to where they grew up, DJ and Denver settled in Salinas. They loved traveling going to Disneyland, the AMA Supercross several times, and cruises to Mexico. Summers were spent traveling often to Clearlake, Ca where his parents had moved to many years before with their Pug (who DJ adored), Prissy. Though they had no children, they also had two Boxers, Libby & Rocky, that were their pride and joy and went almost everywhere with them.
DJ continued to love to ride his dirt bike at Hollister Hills and New Idria in King City with his best friend Bryan Shortes and his brother-in-law JR Tate, and when not there he would be putting around practicing his jumps and whoops out back at home. He also played paintball with his friends and JR during the summer and even joined a team and played with them for a few years until he injured his back while working.
After his injury, DJ found himself thinking about following in his father’s footsteps and in 2004 he got his class A license and began to drive a transfer-truck for his father-in-law, Larry Tate. His goal was to eventually buy a truck and start his own company also calling it Harrington Trucking, just like his dad’s. A few years later he went on to drive for Kelvin Hildebrand of Hildebrand & Sons Trucking in Royal Oaks, CA. He had many close friends there who he loved and who also loved him in return. DJ had a heart of gold, big as the sky, and it definitely showed wherever he went and to who ever he would meet.
DJ was preceded in passing by Hattie Martin (grand mother), Chester Martin (grandfather), Yvonne Herrier (grandmother), Bill Harrington (grandfather), and Marilyn Harrington (mother). He is survived by Danny Harrington, Sr. (father), Derek Harrington (brother), Denver Harrington (wife), Todd & Travis Owen, Jason Rudoll, Jack Harrington, as well as many other cousins, aunts, and uncles.
