Daniel ( Jerry)'s obituary

Daniel ( Jerry) Marrotte, 92, of Rindge, NH, passed away on February 18, 2026 . He passed peacefully in his home. Jerry was born on 1/27/34 to Daniel and Delia Marrotte. He left behind his wife, Gloria (Hammond) Marrotte.  His surviving sibling are Jane Bemis, Claire Griffin and Richard Marrotte. His brother Micheal and George have since passed away.  His children are Kurk Marrotte, Jerry Marrotte, Eric Marrotte, George Marrotte, and Melanie Marrotte and son (Scott Marrotte , who passed away at a young age). His step children include, Holly Wilber, Earl Wilber, Jason Wilber, and Tina Holmes . His grandchildren are , Tyler Marrotte, Eric Marrotte, Seth Marrotte Aaron Marrotte Mathew Marrotte, Keyton Marrotte, Alanna Marrotte and Theresa Marrotte. Jerry’s step grand children are Derek May Caidyn May and Caitlyn May . May . He has 19 great grand children, and Kyer Lafrenier great great grandchild, who he was currently taking care of.

Jerry was a veteran in the United state’s Army. While in the Army, Jerry was a golden glove boxer.      In his younger years, he drove truck and delivered Cott soda to the surrounding area. He was also a part-time police officer for the Town of Jaffrey, for 20 years. On sept 6, 2025, he received a retirement police badge from the Jaffrey chief of police , as an appreciation for his  service! He was a stone mason in the surrounding area. He did a lot of stone work for the Cathedral of the Pines, and East Hill Farm. He also built a large retaining wall on the corner of main and Payson road in Rindge, NH.  He was best in his field, if someone needed a chimney built, or a stone wall, he was the man to call. Jerry worked most of his life mowing and plowing the roads for Jaffrey.   Many people would see him driving his tractor along the sides of the road with his straw hat on! People would wave and say “Hi Jerry”! He was a generous man and often worked for free for people who couldn’t afford to pay him. If you needed something that he had, he would give it to you. After raising a family of five, on a small farm in Jaffrey, he met and wed the love of his life Gloria (Hammond), Jerry spent his time camping and fishing on the beaches of cape cod with his wife and his sister Jane. 

He grew a large vegetable garden every year with his son Jerry , they took meticulous care of it and the end result was astounding and he was always so proud of it! Jerry loved his music! He played in a band growing up, with Ace Hartwell, and Tiny Gagnon. They often played at the Fitzwilliam sportsman club. There was a time he was on Channel two, singing “mule skinner blues” Which he would brag about!  He loved singing and playing his guitar, and having “open Jams” with his family. He loved playing music with his friend Moe Gagnon ,”Boy could he play!”  He would say! . And singing all the old country music. He also loved to dance with his wife Gloria. He loved talking about old times and the time he spent in the service. He had a wonderful sense of humor!! Most of all he was a family man, that meant the most to him. He was a wonderful father, husband ,friend and teacher. He will be truly missed. There will be a celebration of life later to be determined and will be posted for anyone who would like to attend.
