Daniel's obituary
Daniel Gibb (Gibby)
January 3, 1998 - March 21, 2026
There are lives that follow a path.
And then there are lives that create light - so bright, so improbable, that they leave the world permanently altered.
Daniel Gibb was the latter.
Born in McAllen, Texas on January 3, 1998, Daniel’s life was never ordinary. For the first years of his life, he grew up in Tampico, Mexico. At age 12, Daniel and his mother moved to San Diego for a new beginning. What they built together was a life built by humor, and by unmistakable light.
There Daniel had become broadly known as Gibby and had also become who he would always be: positive, funny, curious, and quietly unbreakable.
In high school, Gibby volunteered at the Braille Institute, teaching blind, Spanish-speaking adults how to play music. His work earned him “Teacher of the Year,” but more importantly, it reflected something essential about Gibby: his kindness and eagerness to help those around him.
Gibby attended The Los Angeles Recording School, pursuing music production and creative expression. He was an artist in every sense, producing music across genres, DJing events, designing album covers, shooting and editing videos, and creating visual work that reflected a mind constantly in motion. He created his own clothing line, Innocenti. There he also worked at a retirement home where he cared for the elderly and provided humor and positivity.
To know Gibby is to know that trying to find words to describe him is impossible. Gibby loved life, and more than anything he loved people. He was an amazing son, friend, partner, and artist. For most of us, he was the funniest person we have ever met. He was deeply loyal, loving, and kind, he cared about his loved ones more than anything. He was creative and brilliant. He made strangers feel like friends, and friends feel like family.
At 24, Gibby moved to Dallas, TX where he created an art movement, Outthere, to bring together people, artists and friends. He created thousands of pieces of art, music, and design, and hosted events with some of his closest friends.
On March 21, 2026 he passed peacefully, surrounded by love. Daniel is survived by his mother, Ana, his extended family, and his friends whose lives are forever marked by his presence.
There is a quiet truth that follows a life like Daniel’s:
Some people are here to live long lives. Others are here to live full ones. Daniel Gibb lived a life so full, so defiant, and so luminous that it stretched far beyond the limits placed upon it. He will be missed dearly, but his memory will live through all of us.
