Daniel's obituary
In Loving Memory of Daniel Stewart Gerber
December 1, 1955- May 17, 2025
Daniel Stewart Gerber, age 69, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, at 2:40 AM in Long Beach, California surrounded by his family in his home. A loving husband, proud father, cherished Papa, and loyal friend, Daniel lived his life with humor, heart, and a deep passion for the things he loved.
Daniel was born on December 1, 1955 @ 9;29am in Long Beach to Jacob Maxwell Gerber and Catherine Stewart Gerber. From the very beginning, he was a spirited and lighthearted soul, destined to bring laughter and warmth into lives of everyone he met.
Born with a competitive spirit, Daniel had a lifelong love for sports. In his younger years, he could often be found on the field or court, playing whatever game was at hand. Later in life, golf became his sport of choice, and he followed his favorite teams—the Dodgers, the Rams, and the Los Angeles Lakers, —with unwavering loyalty.
Daniel was also a man of music, often filling his days with songs that spoke to his soul. He built a successful life as a businessman, first as the owner of the repossession company Road Runner Recovery, and later as co-owner, with his beloved wife Kimberly, of their bar The Flight Room—a place filled with stories, laughter, and community.
He found peace and joy in the simple pleasures—bonfires on the beach, time spent with his dogs, and the company of those he loved. A natural jokester with quick wit and a knack for making people laugh (especially at his own jokes), Daniel was the kind of man who lit up a room just by being in it. Daniel wanted to be remembered as the "Jolly Man."
Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Gerber; his children Christy Gerber Richmond, Joseph Gerber, Jeremy Gerber, Jason Gerber, Jacob Gerber and Justin Gerber; and his grandchildren Mary Jack, Michael, Murdoch, Kendall, Brooklyn, Blake, Leilah, and AJ; and his half-sister Carol Gerber. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and remembered always for his humor, his heart, and his unmistakable laugh.
