Daniel's obituary
In Loving Memory of Daniel Clayton Cox, Sr. | October 24, 1944 – March 18, 2026
Daniel “Dan” Cox, Sr., 81, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed peacefully into the presence of our Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with dementia. Born October 24, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, he lived a life marked by faith, love, and devotion to those he held dear.
Dan spent most of his life in New Albany, Ohio, where he graduated from New Albany High School in 1964. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Dianne. They recently celebrated 59 beautiful years of marriage together, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generous heart, and unwavering love for Jesus—a faith he proudly expressed by wearing his cross necklace, which often led to opportunities to share his faith and ask others if they knew Jesus as well.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished every moment with his family and friends. He was a devoted member of Jersey Baptist Church and found great joy in serving others and spending time with his Sunday School class. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and never missed a game. There were also many memorable moments in The Horseshoe with his family and friends.
After graduating from high school, Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a welder for Jeffries Manufacturing and Worthington Steel. He later started his own construction business, Dan Cox Masonry, where he built block basements for Donley Homes and then M/I Homes, earning multiple awards for best quality and exceptional craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Delores (Van Meter) Cox; his sisters, Lorelei Keer and Ruthie Cox; and his brothers, John Cox, Sr., and Gary “Huck” Cox.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Dianne (Hasson) Cox; his daughter, Renae Anderson; his son, Daniel “Duke” Cox, Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren, Clayton Anderson, Crystal (Ryan) King, Hannah and Bella Cox. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice for their love, compassion, and support during this time. We are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who helped us care for him.
Memory Lane Sunbury is assisting the family with a private graveside service burial on March 30, 2026, at Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany, Ohio.
