We were so sad to belatedly hear the news of Daniel’s passing. We came across this site and my son wanted to add his story. Daniel was a very important person in his life. From my son, Nate:
I personally knew Daniel as a kind, grateful, caring and just an awesome guy. He was my ski instructor since I was a very little kid. He was always, and I mean ALWAYS, there for me. Even when I was having a meltdown. He was always patient with me whenever it took me a long time to get the concept he was teaching me. He came to my birthday even when he could have been hanging out with others, like his family, friends or even fellow ski instructors. He made everyone happy no matter what affect it had on him. Daniel was my favorite. Although it was tough to hear the news of his dying, I still want to show my love. I know my family does too. In fact they told me they did.

I hope you had a good celebration today, sorry I wasn’t there. Like Noelle I skied a lap for him here in Bozeman. We will all miss him. Long ago Dan took a class or two I taught, he then helped me teach it, and we worked together the last couple years. I miss him as I know you all do. He was a wonderful friendly, energetic yet calm spirit.

I used to wake up and start my day chatting with Dan in the locker room, usually we ended the day together too. His presence is sorely missed. My day is seemingly incomplete without the shared banter. My heart goes out to you and his loved ones.
