Danica's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Danica Barney, who was called to her heavenly abode on August 7, 2023. Born on May 23, 1965, Danica lived a full and enriched life, touching the lives of those around her with her warmth and vivacity.
In 1969, Danica and her family moved to Mobile, AL where she attended Baker High School on Airport Boulevard, graduating in 1983. Her spirited personality made her a beloved member of the local community. She was an active attendee at the Assembly of God Church, where her faith shaped her approach to life.
Throughout her life, Danica displayed strong dedication and a commitment to help others. This was reflected in her professional life when she started working at the Springhill Medical Center in 1998. Her hard work and dedication earned her the respect of both her colleagues and patients alike.
Danica tied the knot with Terrance Barney in 2003. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Christy Richards and Terrance Barney Jr., both of whom brought immense joy and pride into their parents' lives.
An extrovert by nature, Danica was brave, humorous, and an adventurous soul. Her favorite recreational activities included hanging out with friends and family, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors. She loved walking outside on a trail or through the park and had a fondness for snacks like ice cream and potato chips. A lover of the blues, Danica was also fond of games, her favorites being Dominoes, poker, and spades. Her favorite color, turquoise, was as vibrant as her personality. Danica also had a soft spot for movies, with 'The Lion King' being her all-time favorite.
Her favorite vacation spots included her birthplace, Detroit, MI, where she enjoyed reconnecting with her family roots.
Danica is survived by her loving husband, Terrance, her daughter, Christy, and her son, Terrance Jr. Her spirit lives on through them and the countless lives she touched. She will be immensely missed by all who knew her.
