Dana's obituary

Dana Rost, 52, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Cooper Hospital with loved ones by his side. Dana became critically ill due to a medical emergency after Thanksgiving and was unable to recover. His loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened. He will be greatly missed, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts and lives.
Dana was born in Bronx, NY, but was raised in Old Bridge, NJ. He graduated from Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School and went on to complete the Electronics Technician Program from DeVry Technical Institute. After working in the technical field for a few years, he decided to pursue a criminal justice path and became a police officer at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, in Newark, NJ, where he proudly served for several years. Upon starting a family, he returned to his technical background and began working for Siemens Fire Safety, where he spent much of his career. Dana was most recently employed with Tilley Fire Solutions.
Anyone who knew Dana knows how much he loved to cook! He enjoyed exploring wine and entertaining family and friends. Dana was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing golf and watching football and baseball. He was passionate about his favorite teams, the NY Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. One of his most memorable events was attending his first Cowboys’ game last year in Dallas. In his younger years, Dana was a student of the art of illusion, and continued to have a passion for magic throughout his life, passing on some of his secrets to Alec and Sophia. Another of his favorite pastimes was photography, which he was very enthusiastic about. Dana loved rock and roll music and was a long-time fan of the band Rush, seeing them many times in concert.
Dana was a big-hearted, vibrant, warm and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, son and friend. He was determined to provide for his family and give them the best life possible. He always found the fun in life and was always very generous with his time, knowledge, and technical abilities. He would go out of his way to assist friends and neighbors with tasks whenever he could.
Dana was predeceased by his loving parents, Le Roy and Teresa Rost.
Dana is survived by his wife, Jennifer (nee Kuzma) and daughter Sophia; his son Alec (and Alec’s mother Laurie Rost); his brother, Allen Rost and wife Lucy; his brother Roy Rost, Jr.; and his sister Ann Marie and husband Raymond Francisco. He will also be missed by all his nieces and nephews who thought he was the best uncle ever, and many beloved friends and colleagues.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020, from 2-4 p.m. and funeral service on Monday, December 28th at 10 a.m. at the Murray-Paradee funeral home, 601 Marlton Pike West, Cherry Hill, NJ, https://murrayparadeefh.com/.
Dana’s funeral service was live-streamed on Zoom. You can find the recording of the service here, https://www.youtube.com/watch…. He was laid to rest at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider contributing to a fund established in trust for the benefit of Dana’s young daughter Sophia Rost, at https://everloved.com/life-of….
