Like many people, it felt like just a few days ago that I learned that Dan was unwell. Worried about my own health, he had insisted that I not be burdened by the news and besides, focused on getting better, he wished for the opportunity to tell me himself about his illness and the recovery. I was terribly saddened, by the news but like any parent, I committed immediately to believe, hope and pray every day with my son Dan and all the children for mercy and healing!
When I learned early yesterday morning that Dan had gone to join his Creator, I was stunned and didn’t know what to do! How could this be and how could it have happened so fast?
Dan and Dora, my son and daughter in law, came to the heart of my life when our families came together following my daughter Susan's wedding to Kasedde, Dan's youngest brother. Generations of our families are now inseparably linked. My grandchildren and I, having shared countless beautiful and happy moments and lessons together over the decades with Dan, Dora, their children and our extended family, now must deal with the knowledge that our family is once more, forever changed.
At my age and stage in life, this loss and change are hard to accept. Dan’s track record as a very caring, loving, committed family man, friend and professional, will never be erased.
I will always remain proud of my son Dan and grateful for his life. May the Good Lord, guide and keep our dear Dora and the children!
To Dan: Fare thee well! Until we meet again.

Dear Dora and the children, it is a big shock to learn that Dan has passed on.
He is on a better place. Yet the gap left behind is immense.
We will lift you up in prayer before our Heavenly Father.

Oh my God! My spiritual father and professional mentor is gone! I met Dr, Semambo in September 1993 during the orientation week as a fresher in the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. I attended the first freshers' welcome fellowship night in the Main Hall Makerere University and the Joint Heirs led by Dr. Semambo were leading praise and worship. As soon as he introduced himself as a Veterinary Doctor, I became eager to talk to him! Because from the day I arrived on campus, whoever asked what course are you doing and I said Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, they pitied me and advised me to change the course immediately before I'm discontinued! It was while I was tormented by the discouraging advice that I got to talk to Dr. Semambo. He encouraged me to stay in the BVM program. He followed me up to the Faculty and introduced me to Prof. Acon and together they ensured that I settled into the course to become the Veterinary Doctor I'm today. As soon as completed my final exams, he looked me up and encouraged me to enroll for the Animal Breeding and Artificial Insemination Course and set up for me a veterinary practice to manage in Wakiso. He had very good professional plans for me that were only interrupted by pregnancy complications and mandatory long term bed rest during my first pregnancy. I owe all my professional achievements to Dr. Semambo who made sure that I did not run away from the BVM program to escape being discontinued which was very common in the faculty of Veterinary Medicine in those days.
Dr. Semambo, I last saw you singing beautifully as ever during the funeral service for Dr. Thomas Kiryapao, who was professional mentor! Little did I know that I would never see you again! You loved and wished us your spiritual daughters, you followed me up to home and talked to me and my husband in our early marriage days! My prayer was always that I will see walking your beautiful biological daughters the isle!
May continue singing and resting with the angels until we meet again! Who are the one who made me to become...

My name is Hanning Mutukiriza pastor of Kampala Bible Revelation Church located Makerere Mukubira Zone.
In 1982 I was a young man of 19 and I got news that there will be a gospel music show at Makerere Main Hall by the Joint Heirs. I did not know who these people were. But I fell in love with their music and compositions in luganda of Mr Mudido. Dr Dan Semambo and all others could sing and you felt the presence of God. It was at one of the shows when I heard the voice of the Lord telling me, "Hanning you can do the same." I screamed, No, Lord. I have never sung in a choir. When I saw Dan Sebutinde, Dan Mudido, Dan Semambo, Waliggo on a small keyboard and Mr Male, plus a lady Doctor and another Sister who had dimples singing for Jesus I was left with no choice. Later these guys could introduce themselves and if you did not want to study you would cry. They were highly educated and yet so committed to serve the Lord. I went as the Lord told me and I started a singing group in 1983 called Gloriannah. Because of great commitment to church ministry we joyfully closed it in 2005. I am celebrating Dr Semambo's life because he humbled himself to selflessly serve the Lord. I will not miss him rather I am glad that we will meet in eternity.
