Daisy's obituary
She lived in France until 1946. During WW2 Daisy would meet her soon to be 1st husband, American Staff Sargent Claude Othaniel Howell. The Sorokey Family left France in 1946 for New York where they all settled except for Daisy. She left for Florida within weeks of arriving in the United States where she met up and married her soldier in Vero Beach, FL. They had two children, Joan Kirby of Ft. Pierce, FL and Marlon Howell (Patty) of Port Orange. Fl. They made their home on a cattle ranch in Fellsmere and later moved to Vero where Daisy worked at a fruit packing house in Gifford/Vero . They were married for twelve years when Claude passed away.
Daisy would later meet and marry her second husband, Robert Lee Ragin Jr. Robert was a commercial fisherman and they had one child, Sandra Kallam (Frank) of Melbourne Beach. They made their home in Daytona Beach and were married 28 years when Robert passed away.
During here time in Daytona Beach, she worked for General Electronics Corp where she made connectors for the B- 52 bomber and worked for The Indigo Hotel and Conference Center. After her retirement, she spent her time as an elderly caretaker and private housekeeper and volunteered with Meals On Wheels for over 10 years at the Port Orange Senior Center. Daisy loved to fish, cultivate flowers in her garden and feed her yard birds. She was known to enjoy her Champagne and a glass of dark beer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 of her siblings, brothers Alfred, Eddie, William and James Sorokey and sister Jenny Boyson all of New York. Left to mourn her passing is her sister Dolly Sacco of Hudson, NY and her Children Joan, Marlon and Sandy along with 5 grandchildren, Claudia Kirby Webb, Jeneen Kirby Yetter, Phillip Kirby, Lesa Howell Najduch and Jacob Kallam and 3 great grandchildren Heath and Dalton Webb and Blake Yetter.
Daisy was truly one of a kind. She was a strong and independent women with a generous and giving spirit. She made a lasting impression where ever she went and with whom she met. She will truly be missed.
