Cynthia's obituary

Cynthia Duchmann Meyer

March 10, 1952 – May 15, 2025

With peaceful hearts and joyful remembrance, the family of Cynthia Duchmann Meyer celebrates her life and legacy as she passed into eternal rest on May 15, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on March 10, 1952, Cynthia was the devoted daughter of the late Fredrick Duchmann, Jr. and Anna Mae Duchmann, the cherished granddaughter of the late Clelie Seawell and Fredrick Duchmann, Sr. and the late Mary Ferrera and James Siggio. Though she later made her home in Mandeville, Louisiana, Cynthia’s heart always remained in St. Bernard Parish, where she spent most of her life.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Cindi Meyer, and her treasured granddaughters, Ashlin Nicosia Bailey (husband, Zachary Bailey) and Mia Maschmeyer. She leaves behind her dear sisters, Karen Randazzo and Clelie Pamela Duchmann, half-sister Brenda Samrow, and her beloved brother-in-law, Emanuel Randazzo. She was a loving aunt and godmother to Courtney Randazzo (fiancé, Jeff Shultz), and her children, Kurt Ostendorf and Riley Chauppetta. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, Demi Oncale and Jade Payne. Cynthia is also survived by, nephew, Gregg Duchmann, Jr. and niece, Ashley Duchmann, children of her late brother, Gregg Duchmann, Sr. (wife, Mary Duchmann).

Cynthia dedicated her work to the insurance industry, being active and licensed with State Farm for over 25 years and with other companies for over 5. Her professionalism, integrity, and compassionate nature made a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading, enjoying meals with friends, walking along the lakefront, and cherishing every moment spent with family. She was a woman of strong faith and deeply valued time with her loved ones.

To honor her wishes, Cynthia’s family will host a Celebration of Life for family members and Cynthia’s friends and colleagues on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Rocky and Carlo’s Restaurant in Chalmette, in their banquet room. Please dress vibrantly, just as Cynthia would have; no black, please.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite nonprofit/charity in Cynthia’s memory.
