Dee's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Cynthia "Dee" Grubaugh. Known affectionately as Dee, she was a beacon of light for those who knew her. Born on September 10, 1932, and transitioning from this world on April 23, 2025, Dee's life was filled with courage, passion, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Dee is survived by her loving children, Pamela Shackley, Laurie Kovitz and Gene Shackley. The bond between them was unmistakable, marked by mutual respect, love, and a shared understanding of the world. In their hearts and minds, Dee's spirit will continue to live, providing comfort and guidance in times of need. She is survived by her grandchildren Kristin, Jake and Lauren Shackley and grandsons Justin and Travis Werker.
Known for her outgoing and opinionated personality, Dee was not one to shy away from hard work. Her diligence was evident in everything she set her mind to. A firm believer in the power of hard work, one of her most resonating lessons was that with dedication and perseverance, anything could be accomplished.
Dee's accomplishments speak volumes about her character. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel every continent, absorbing cultures and traditions, reflecting them in her vibrant personality. Equally noteworthy was her ability to inspire generations of students towards rewarding careers in the medical field, a testament to her passion for education and healing.
Dee leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. Her actions painted a picture of a compassionate woman who sought to make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time. Her contributions to her community and the impact she made on the lives of many will be remembered fondly.
