Cynthia's obituary
Cynthia (Syndie) Cupit Goodman, 67, of Sierra Vista, AZ passed away surrounded by family on April 15, 2024, after a sudden battle with pancreatic cancer at the VA Healthcare Center in Tucson, AZ. Syndie was born on October 15, 1956, to William and Charla Cupit in Beaumont, TX.
She grew up in Wai’anae, Hawaii, and for high school went back to Beaumont, TX and graduated from Forest Park High School. After graduation, she went back to Hawaii and attended Leeward Community College. In 1980, she enlisted into the US Army in Ft. Stewart, GA and served four years as a secretary to the Commanding General of the 24th Infantry Division and in 1986 she served four years as the executive secretary to the Deputy Commanding General of 7th Corps HQ and the Commanding General, Stuttgart Military Community. While in Stuttgart, Germany, she was active with the local theater and choreographed a run of the King and I and played the role of Tuptim, also played Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy. She would frequently fill our home with music and singing the songs from Broadway musicals such as A Chorus Line, Cats, Miss Saigon and The Sound of Music. In 2002, using her background in theater and the military, she became a Role-Player Actress for training various Army branches on interrogation techniques in school, village and field environments.
The one job she enjoyed the most started November 2017 at the Bisbee Tour Company or BTC in Bisbee, AZ, where she started at the front desk and eventually became a tour guide. She loved telling people about Bisbee’s unique history.
She made amazing gumbo, made every birthday and Christmas extra special. She also loved cats, especially female blue cream Persians that she would name Thomasina.
Syndie is preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Cupit. She is survived by her mother Charla Cupit, sister Denise Neff (Scott), brother John Cupit (Sue), son Jason Anders (Limayri), son Michael Goodman (Chelsea), stepdaughter Michelle Goodman (Travis Cook), her grandchildren Jason Anders, Sophia Anders, Austin Cook, Gray Goodman and Coast Goodman and nephews Rodney Hart and Chris Hart (April) along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
We are honoring her wishes for cremation and planning a service for internment at the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at the foot of the beautiful Huachua Mountains.
In lieu of flowers, Syndie had a heart for the homeless and helping others and would prefer donations be made to the Bisbee Coalition for the Homeless, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, or Samaritan's Purse.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone who stayed actively engaged in Syndie’s life. Syndie loved Jesus, she knew we are all sinners, that He died for our sins to reconcile us with God, and she accepted Him into her life knowing that He is the only way to eternal life and wishes for all of us to do the same. Aloha, a hui hou kākou.
