Cynthia's obituary

Cynthia (Cindie) Crowley Garvey, 63, of St. Clair, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Cindie was born to Margaret Yesbick and Richard Crowley in Detroit, Michigan. She was always quick to adapt when moving to new towns and was always the first to make friends as a kid. She considered her friends her family and was fiercely loyal - her core friendships span over 45 years.

Cindie is survived by her husband, Thomas Garvey; her two daughters, Janelle Garvey and Jessica (Ryan) Norman; her grandsons James (7) and Maxwell (2) Norman; her sisters Kathleen (William) Killgore and Kelly Murray; and her nieces and nephews: Danielle (Mark) Hobson, Ashley (Bryan) Marchand, Christine Langston, Bryan (Jennifer) Kadjan, Eric Kadjan, Rachel (Dan) Ruiz, John (Kylie) Crowley, Robert (Becky) Crowley. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and her nephew Evan Murray.

Cindie enjoyed sitcoms and game shows from the 70s and 80s and loved music and dancing. Whether it was with family in the kitchen or out with her sisters and friends, she loved listening to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Van Morrison, Barbara Streisand, Frankie Valli, and The Jersey Boys, and throwing down “the rubber band” - a dance move that many tried but could never master like her.

She was always ready for a game of cards. It could be Euchre, poker, slot machines, or a competitive game of Crazy Eights with her grandson James. Most notably, Cindie had an incredible sense of humor. She was quick and witty, and there was never a holiday where we weren’t laughing. And even as life handed her the most trying moments, she used her humor to comfort our family.

In honor of her life, a memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, at Total Sports in Harrison Twp, Michigan, from 5:30 PM to 9 PM. The celebration is open to anyone who knew Cindie and would like to join us in sharing memories, dancing, and celebrating her life.
