Cynthia's obituary
Cynthia Ervine Pittman, née (Cynthia Ervine Johnson), departed this life peacefully on January 27, 2025, at age 67. Born to LA Johnson and Barbara Johnson, née Holt, on November 1, 1957, Cynthia was the oldest daughter and grew up with a strong sense of family and community. In 1980, she married her beloved husband, Herbert Pittman, for 12 years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. After his passing, Cynthia continued to be a pillar of strength for her family, facing the world with courage and grace.
Throughout her life, Cynthia found joy in every field of work and every hobby she embraced. Her career spanned several industries, and she believed in the transformative power of community service, often volunteering her time and talents to various local organizations. Her zest for life was truly infectious. She was known for her love of entertainment, whether attending concerts or exploring the latest theater productions; her enthusiasm was only matched by her passion for sharing those experiences with loved ones.
Cynthia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was diagnosed with breast cancer many years ago, a challenge she faced with remarkable courage. Her journey as a survivor was a testament to her fighting spirit and an inspiration to those around her. Though she faced additional challenges with her health, She embodied hope, reminding us of the power of faith, perseverance, and the importance of cherishing each moment.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Shavonne Goutier and Herbert Pittman III, and son-in-law, Emmanuel Goutier, who will miss her guidance, wisdom, and unwavering support. She was also the devoted grandmother of grandchildren Ramiyah Goutier and Makai Goutier and will be cherished in their memories as a kind, caring, and generous person.
In addition to her immediate family, Cynthia is survived by her brothers, Bryant Johnson, Gregory Johnson, and Larry Johnson. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Kristie Johnson and Patricia Johnson, and both parents. Sadly, her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will miss her. She cherished her family profoundly and formed lasting bonds that transcended generations.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hopewell Baptist Church, caregivers, friends, or family members who provided exceptional care and support during her times of need and final days. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Rest in peace.
