Cindy's obituary
In Loving Memory of Cynthia Louise Duarte
April 29, 1961 – August 8, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Louise Duarte, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on August 8, 2025, at Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener, surrounded by love and cherished memories.
Born on April 29, 1961, in the quiet town of St. Marys, Ontario, Cynthia grew up on a family farm, where she learned the values of hard work, humility, and the beauty of life lived close to the land. The rhythm of the seasons, the warmth of animals, and the wide-open skies shaped her gentle spirit and grounded her in gratitude.
Cindy was the devoted wife of the late Helder Duarte, affectionately known as “Taz,” who lovingly called her “Tweety.” Their playful nicknames reflected a deep and enduring love, filled with laughter, loyalty, and a shared joy in life’s little quirks. Together, they built a family rooted in warmth and unwavering support.
She was the proud and loving mother of Nino and his wife Felicia, and Lindsay and her fiance Tyler. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother to Eliza and Slater, and a step-grandmother to Summer and Sophia, each of whom brought light and laughter into her days.
Cindy had a quiet strength and a generous heart. She was known for her sharp wit, her love of animals—especially frogs—and her unmistakable passion for Coca-Cola. Not only did she enjoy the drink itself, but she also delighted in collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, filling her space with vintage treasures that reflected her playful spirit and nostalgic soul.
Some would call her the “One Hit Wonder”—a nickname that captured her bold personality and the way she left a lasting impression wherever she went. But behind the humor and charm was a true warrior. For the last twelve years, Cindy battled the ultimate fight with courage, grace, and an unbreakable spirit. Her resilience inspired everyone around her, and her strength was nothing short of extraordinary.
Whether she was sharing a story, offering a helping hand, or simply sitting in silence with someone who needed it, Cindy had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Her presence was comforting, her laughter contagious, and her love unwavering.
Her legacy lives on in the kindness she showed, the wisdom she shared, and the joy she brought to those around her. Cindy’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with compassion, courage, and connection. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Innisfree Hospice and Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness during Cindy's stay. Your support brought comfort during the most difficult days.
As per Cindy’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, her children and grandchildren will honor her memory each year with a joyful celebration—bowling, golfing, or any fun activity that reflects her vibrant spirit and love for laughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy's name may be made to Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice, whose care and compassion meant so much to her and her family.
