Cynthia's obituary

Cynthia Lee Choate, age 66, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at Andwell Hospice in Auburn, Maine. She was born on January 31, 1959, in Hartford, Connecticut.

Cynthia was a grandmother and friend whose warmth and ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a gift for conversation and could make anyone feel seen and heard—one of the many reasons she was so widely known and loved.

She was invested in her work at China Empress in Winthrop, where she worked from 2003 until 2022, when health challenges began. Her work family and the many customers she served over the years meant a great deal to her, and she took pride in what she did.

Cynthia cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Family was important to her, and her love for them was evident. Though she did not have the chance to meet her newest granddaughter, Amara, born on December 22, 2025, she was deeply loved and spoken of often, and her spirit lives on through her family.

Cynthia is survived by her son Jesse Choate, his wife Lynne Choate, and their son Garrett Choate; her daughter Susanna Brown, her partner Mathew Perkins, and her grandchildren Eli, Raelyn, and Amara; her brothers Phillip and Dwayne; and her sister Beverly.

She was predeceased by her beloved life partner Floyd Brown, her mother Joan Caron, and her brother David Labrecque.

Cynthia will be remembered for her ability to keep a conversation going, her strong personality, and the connections she made throughout her life. She will be remembered by those who knew her.
