Cynthia (Cindy) Bucher, 71, of Temple Terrace, Florida, passed away on September 4, 2025, surrounded by her family who loved her beyond measure.
Born in McLeansboro, Illinois, Cindy moved to Florida after high school and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science from the University of South Florida. She built a remarkable career as a Senior Biological Scientist with the Department of Global Health, Center for Biological Defense at USF, the University of Florida, and Moffitt Cancer Center.
Her work contributed to significant advancements in science and cancer research, including coauthoring numerous publications, helping author patents, and being recognized as a member of the National Academy of Inventors at USF. Her dedication to research and innovation left an impact that will continue to benefit others for years to come.
Cindy was the cherished wife of Charles (Chuck) Bucher, sharing 51 years of a marriage overflowing with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they created a life rich in warmth, family, and treasured traditions—one that will continue to inspire and hold their loved ones close for generations.
She is survived by her daughter, Chrysta (Louis) Guthrie, and their children—Carter, Riley, Jonathan, and Alex—and by her son, Tommy (Kira) Bucher, and their children—Gio, Kylie, and Sebastian. Cindy’s greatest joy was her family. She delighted in celebrating her children’s and grandchildren’s successes, encouraging them through every milestone, and surrounding them with her warmth, humor, and steadfast love. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Gladys Waters, her sister, Sue, and brother-in-law, Chuck Warren.
Cindy was the heartbeat of her family—their constant source of love, laughter, and belonging. She found joy in life’s simplest treasures: time spent with her loved ones, stories and laughter shared, and the comfort of simply being together. Every moment in her presence was a gift, and her family is endlessly grateful for the warmth, strength, and care she poured into their lives.
Though her passing leaves a space that can never be filled, her love endures—steady, constant, and woven into every memory. Her family carries with them the wisdom and kindness she so freely gave, finding comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her spirit remains a guiding light, a reminder of her devotion, and a love that will forever live in the hearts of those she cherished most.
