Cynthia's obituary
Cynthia Alene Johnson, 77, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 21st, 2026. She went home to be with the Lord surrounded, by her daughter and Houston family.
Cynthia attended Booker T Washington Elementary and William Henry High School in Dover, Delaware. She went on to work as a nurse's aide, a role she faithfully dedicated herself to until retirement.
She cared for others with quiet strength and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on all she served.
She was known for her joyful laughter and her love o f dancing, concerts, and sports. Cynthia was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan who cheered with her whole heart. She also loved to travel and found her greatest joy in doing life alongside her daughter. Her faith guided her life, and she was a devoted member of Lighthouse Church and Oasis, the senior ministry.
Cynthia is survived by her beloved daughter, Melissa of Houston; her brothers, Henson Jr (Juanita), John Gregory (Juanita), Charles Ronald (Dynette, and Gary Maurice; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her bonus grandson, Jarrett, his wife Lauren, and their three children, who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death b y her husband, Hezekiah Johnson; her son, Anthony Nixon; and her sister, Valerie Comer.
