When Curtis Theodore Lyle was born on 26 January 1934, in Redwood, Minnesota, United States, his father, Bernard Martin Lavin, was 23 and his mother, Agnes Rachel Welch, was 19. He lived in Springfield, Brown, Minnesota, United States in 1940 and Nampa, Canyon, Idaho, United States in 1950. 

He was united in marriage to Patricia Jane Hansen on October 31, 1953 in Albany, Wisconsin. They had 9 children in 19 years. 

Pamela Jane (Thomas) Zink, Kim Allan (Kristine) Lyle, Jeffery Conrad (Robin) Lyle, Valerie Jean (Rick) Blumer), LuAnn Rene (Phillip) Erdman, Bradley Theodore (Noelle) Lyle, Paula Rae (Thomas) Alexander, Shane Devin (Stacy) Lyle and Cory Jared (Sara) Lyle. 

Curt was a proud member of the Brothertown Indian Nation and spent many summers attending "round ups" with the tribe. 

He died in Beloit, Wisconsin on 13 September 2002, at the age of 68 after a long battle with Cancer, and was buried in at the Norwegian Settlement Cemetery in Green County, Wisconsin, United States.
